Tennis Staff 2026
Mark Happel – Head Professional, USPTA
Mark is currently the Head Varsity Girls and Boys Tennis Coach at Verona Area High School and a Physical Education Teacher in the VASD. He was recently named Coach of the Year by the Wisconsin High School Tennis Coaches Association and has also been the Big 8 Conference Boys and Girls Coach of the Year. His girls teams have won multiple conference titles and have qualified for team state 3 out of the last 5 years. Mark played at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, where he was a national qualifier in both singles and doubles. He is certified through the Professional Tennis Registry and is looking forward to another fantastic year at Seminole.
Annie Nick – Assistant Tennis Professional
Annie graduated from Verona Area High School in 2024 as a 4-year letter winner and 4-time state qualifier on the Girls Tennis Team. She currently attends the University of Arizona and is excited to return to Seminole for her fourth year teaching tennis and in her new role as Assistant Pro.
Michael Happel – Tennis Instructor
Michael played four years of tennis at Verona Area High School. He has a degree in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where he was also the President of Club Tennis. He currently works in the State Legislature and has been teaching tennis at Seminole for the past four years.
McKenna Thorson – Tennis Instructor
McKenna plays Varsity Tennis at Verona Area High School and is #1 singles on the Girls Tennis Team. She is a 3-time state qualifier and took second place at the State Tournament in 2025. McKenna is very passionate about tennis and is looking forward to her second year at Seminole.
Eliza Hudson – Tennis Instructor
Eliza plays Varsity Tennis at Verona Area High School and graduates in 2026. During her senior year at #1 doubles, she qualified for both individual and team state. Eliza took tennis lessons at Seminole as a junior and is excited to start her first year as an instructor!
Alex Cataldo – Tennis/Pickleball Instructor
Alex is a sophomore at Edgewood High School, where he played #4 singles in 2025, won the Badger Conference Tournament, and qualified for team state. Alex plays tennis all year round and has taken lessons at Seminole for the past four years.
Adalynn Koehler – Tennis/Pickleball Instructor
Addie is heading into her junior year at Verona Area High School and has played varsity tennis for the past two years. This is her first year teaching at Seminole, and she is looking forward to getting started!
Norah Nick – Tennis Instructor
Norah is entering her sophomore year at Verona Area High School, where she played #1 singles on the JV1 team. She has been playing tennis for as long as she can remember and is looking forward to her first year at Seminole.
